10:21 am - Stargate Atlantis Fiction

I arrive bearing fic.

My favourite kickass chicks to write for are inevitably those who can physically kick ass, although I have a soft spot for the ones who can talk/think their way out of a tricky situation, too.

Hence, this story.

It was written for the femgenficathon in the fandom of Stargate Atlantis, the kickass chick being Teyla Emmagen.

TITLE: Winners And Survivors
AUTHOR: Tielan
SUMMARY: In the midst of a set of 'war-games' in Atlantis, Teyla discovers that Ronon has changed the rules on her. Sometimes a leader's gotta do what a leader's gotta do.
CATEGORY: gen, action-adventure, drama, humour
CHARACTERS: Teyla, Laura Cadman, Ronon, John; Rodney and Elizabeth have cameo roles.
DISCLAIMER: These characters aren't mine and I'm making no money from them.
NOTES: Set late Season Two/early Season Three. Written for the femgenficathon for the quotation I was assigned: "Winning may not be everything, but losing has little to recommend it." --Diane Feinstein.

She was questioning her sanity in ever agreeing to this. She had never seen war as a game.

3:38 pm - Brand-new here

This looks like a great idea for a comm- wish there were a little more activity, so I just pimped it on my lj, and maybe I'll hit some of the comms like beyond_insane, bsg_women, capricas_sun, north_star and six_decadence. Most of them could use more activity, too. :-) You may have noticed that I'm really into Battlestar Galactica, but I love kickass chicks from anywhere, even from shows I rarely or never watch, like Xena.

So yes, current favorite kickass chick is Kara "Starbuck" Thrace from BSG. I grew up wanting to be her. Although, Season 2 spoilers aheadCollapse )

I also love Laura Roslin, and Boomer and Six. I've especially enjoyed the character evolution of the cylon girls. I've had a love/love relationship with Boomer from day one, and a hate/love relationship with Six, depending on the episode.

And yes, also Farscape's Aeryn Sun, Stargate: SG-1's Samantha Carter, and Stargate Atlantis's Teyla and Elizabeth Weir. In short, I love any portrayal of a woman that defies our still rather Victorian cultural norms. Women who are beautiful, smart, strong, and more than a match for any man they may run into. It seems a pity that they are so frequently confined to sci-fi and fantasy, although mainstream media may very slowly be catching up.

I also adore the girls of The Chronicles of Narnia. I haven't seen the movie yet, but have read the books many times, and Lucy is one of my favorite heroines of all time. I adore Polly and Jill and Susan as well (before she succumbs to '50's girliness).

I just started reading George R. R. Martin's A Storm of Ice and Fire series, and already have a few favorite kickass chicks in little Arya, and her mom, Lady Catelyn.

Ok, now I'm practically out of breath, and I've probably missed a bunch, but I'll come back, hopefully bearing a few new members!

current mood: bouncy

Image hosting by Photobucket

The host of "30 Minute Meals" on the Food Network. Check her out weeknights at 6. She's got that whole cheerleader peppiness about her but rather than detract (read: iritate the fuck out of me) from her, it somehow fits because you can just tell that off the set there's some serious partying in her. I watch very closely, looking for signs that she may be "in the family" or at least a little inclined to a night's daliance after a great meal and copious amounts of alcohol.--by someone to whom I must 100% concure with. I know me and my wife, Wolfy, watch $40 a day on Food Network each and every Tuesday night @ 10pm (EST)/9pm(CST) to watch and have a good time joking about how lush and lezzie Ray Ray is! =}

This is a community to speculate rather or not Rachel Ray is a lesbian; just for fun and not an actual indicator of her real sexual orientation. You can use screencaps, quotes, body language, where are eyes go, how she acts towards each individual gender; you can even write a lengthy drawn out thesis on "why I think that Rachel Ray is a lesbian" and/or you can be direct and to the point as you want.

Hello. I just recently found this community, and I love the idea.

It seems common to suggest more kick-ass women for the interest list? Off the top of my head, I've got to say Rachel, from Animorphs. Anyone who read the books knows she was the warrior princess, the first one to fight, the first one to die.

I just stumbled across this community today and I thought it was a nice concept.

You need to add one definitely HOT kick-ass chick to your interest list:

Elektra Natchios - the rogue assassin Elektra of Marvel Comics fame.

Demona, Elektra, Catwoman and Mystique - What can I say - I have a serious thing for rogue ladies with a dark side. ^_^

8:18 pm - Was watching Atlantis

I have decided that Dr. Weir doesn't kick ass in the normal, uhm, beating up sense of the term. She runs a pretty sweet outfit and makes even the wierd nerds who are so totally obsessed with kickass chicks who comply with the normal sense of the term (read as McKay and Carter.) Fall totally in LUFF with her. Does this count as kickass? *looks sweet*

But not Teyla. *shakes head* She's a Token Alien Chick, which doesn't count.*looks innocent*

current mood: contemplative

7:57 pm - hi

I've been going through a feminist/pro-asskicking phase for a while, and I'm thinking it may stick around. Therefore I'm joining. I'm also trying to start a rating community for real life kickass chicks if any of you guys want to head on over and check it out.

1:55 pm - You're Missing an Interest!

You forgot Tasha Yar! *Le Sigh* Seriously, she's so cool. I mean, I know she gets killed off and everything, but... she's just as cool as, like, say Sam Carter, only with a bad haircut and...(whispers: might want to add Uhura too, before I notice she's missing as well.)

Er, yeah. Hi. Love the idea for this community.
